The course deals with educational policy and the role of education in the development of African societies. Focus is on the relationship between education and social change. Indigenous knowledge and learning systems are discussed in relation to formal and structured education systems. The role of international aid for education in the development of African societies will be discussed as will questions related to professional ethics and to the role of official curricula.

60 credits in the field of Humanities, Social Sciences or Education and English 6. Exemption from Swedish can be given.
