The course has a communicative and partly linguistic focus. It provides an overview of basic Swedish vocabulary, elementary morphology, and syntax. In addition, the characteristic features of Swedish prosody are discussed, and students practise their pronunciation during the course. Students are given opportunities to practise perceptual and productive skills by, for example, taking part in simple conversations and writing short texts. The course also includes orientation in Swedish culture, customs and traditions.
