The course has a communicative and certain level of linguistic focus. During the course, students complete a piece of work that focuses on Swedish grammar, vocabulary, and pronunciation. They read and analyse various types of texts, including a work of fiction. Themes about Swedish culture and society are discussed and compared with cultures and societies familiar to the students. Through productive and perceptive tasks as well as interactive classroom activities, students practise their grammar skills and ability to solve problems in various types of conversational situations and in their writing in Swedish.
