Integrated in course content are the subjects nursing and medical science. The course includes in depth application of the nursing process and the preparation and use of care plans based on evidence based knowledge during the placement in psychiatric care. Students will receive training in communication with patients and families with complex care needs as well as training in the work related role and in terms of collaboration with staff from different professions. The course includes assessment of the patient’s condition. Students learn the responsibility of the nurse to take appropriate measures. It also includes continued training in drug management, medical treatments and medical-technology skills. A health promotion and disease prevention perspective is applied, as are an ethical approach and a holistic view of the person.
