Prospective upper secondary school teachers are offered the following subject majors at Karlstad University: history, social science, religion, Swedish, English, Spanish, mathematics, biology, chemistry, science studies, physics, and sport science\*. Mathematics can be combined with all other subjects. The programme for teaching in upper secondary education is offered on campus and as net-based distance learning. Both forms of learning are fulltime and like campus students, distance students also have scheduled daytime teaching over the internet. They are also required to attend on-campus meetings in Karlstad three-four times per semester. \*Note that sports science is offered only on campus. Ingesund School of Music in Arvika is a part of Karlstad University and offers campus education.
