<p>In this advanced course students analyse social difference in its varying dimensions, both horizontal (inclusion and exclusion) and vertical (subordination/exploitation). By learning from historical material and contemporary theory, students are offered deepened understanding of cultural identity, social inequality, ethnic exclusion and racialization as well as of populism, authoritarianism and ethno-nationalism. Students will thus be able to explain how societies operate through processes of exclusion and inclusion and how social groups and movements resist and transform such processes.</p>

A bachelor’s degree equivalent to a Swedish Kandidatexamen in the humanities, fine arts, social sciences, behavioural sciences, health sciences or natural sciences or equivalent qualifications are required English corresponding to the level of English in Swedish upper secondary education (Engelska 6 or Engelska nivå 2) Exemption from Swedish
