This course offers a hands-on introduction to literary theory. Theoretical tools will be put into use in analysing a range of texts written in English, from poetry to films and everything between. The main working methods will be discussion and reflection, aiming at developing critical reading skills. The course consists of two 7.5 modules. Module 1 provides an up-to-date overview of key theoretical frameworks such as gender studies and ecocriticism, while Module 2 dives more deeply into a specific area of literary study. English 1-60 credits (1EN001 and 1EN002) or the equivalent.
