How does gender influence global social and economic inequalities? And how can international development efforts address these challenges? This course offers an opportunity to dive into gender studies perspectives on development and gender equality policies. We examine how gender equality is integrated into international development work and how perspectives on gender and equality have evolved over time. The course explores key issues such as political representation, economic opportunities, violence, and social norms – always through an intersectional lens to highlight how different power structures interact. By the end of the course, you will: • Understand the key theories and perspectives within gender and development studies. • Be able to analyze and apply concepts through real-world examples. • Be equipped to critically assess the relationship between gender equality and development policy goals. This course is for anyone seeking to understand the complexity of global inequalities and development work – and who wants to contribute to a more just and inclusive world.

Behörighet

A minimum of 45 credits in peace and development studies, or the equivalent.
