<p>Trace the evolution of modern economic growth in Europe, North America and the OECD world. This course gives you the tools to understand how global integration and institutions have shaped prosperity since the late 1800s.</p><p>This course explores how economic growth has unfolded in Europe and North America from the 1890s to the present, with a focus on the post-1945 period. You’ll study how trade, migration and capital flows expanded after World War II, and how institutions like the EU and OECD supported growth and integration.</p><p>You’ll compare different regions and time periods to understand why some countries prospered while others faced stagnation or crisis. The course highlights key turning points - from the Second Industrial Revolution to postwar recovery and the challenges of the 1970s and beyond.</p><p>You’ll also examine how income levels and growth rates have converged or diverged across the OECD world, and how political economy, labour markets and social models have evolved. The course is taught in English and is part of the BSc programme Economy and Society. It is open to students with general eligibility for university studies in Sweden.<br/></p>
