<p>This is a course for you who want to learn how to use simulation models in the environmental sector. The course deals with some of the process-oriented models used in ecosystem- and environment-oriented research and relevant sectors and industries.</p><p>Simulation models are important tools and are used in administrations and companies to produce a basis for environmental policy decisions and planning, but the systems are also used in research contexts to describe complex systems and relationships. The course deals with some of the process-oriented models used in ecosystem- and environment-oriented research and relevant sectors and industries.</p> <p>Course content</p> <p>Through lectures, seminars, group exercises and project work, you are expected to absorb information during the course in order to</p> <p>describe the general principles and methods for defining, parameterizing and evaluating an ecosystem model</p> <p>design an ecosystem model in the form of a computer program</p> <p>describe some of the different types of process-oriented models used in ecosystem and environment-oriented research and planning, their general characteristics, and their advantages and limitations</p> <p>account for how models and model results are used in different contexts within the environmental area</p> <p>critically examine, evaluate and interpret results from models, design, parameterize, evaluate and apply a process-oriented mathematical model of an ecosystem or one of its components</p> <p>You will also learn to analyze different types of environmentally relevant problems and develop methods for tackling these using existing models and appropriate input and evaluation data.</p><p>https://www.nateko.lu.se/ngen42</p>

Behörighet

Admission to the course requires general entry requirements, English 6/B and at least 90 credits scientific studies, of which at least 7.5 credits should be in physical geography, ecosystem science, or the equivalent.
