<p>Want to understand how text can be analysed using statistics and AI? This course offers an exciting introduction to statistical text analysis - from classic methods to large language models. Perfect if you want to combine language, statistics and technology to solve real-world challenges. </p><p>The course provides an introduction to statistical analysis of text. You will study both methods based on classic statistical approaches (including Bayesian models) and modern approaches such as deep learning and large language models. Topics covered include</p><ul><li>Different ways to represent text to facilitate statistical analysis</li><li>Techniques for classification of text</li><li>Text clustering</li><li>Techniques for identifying different topics/themes in text (topic modelling)</li><li>Techniques for identifying the emotions or sentiments in text (sentiment analysis)</li><li>Methods for text summarisation.</li></ul>
