The aim of this course is to give the students an overview of the field of nanotechnology. The students shall acquire knowledge of the different types of nanostructures and nanomaterials, how to synthesize and characterize the nanomaterials, and how to apply nanotechnology to solve problems. The students shall also acquire knowledge on how microscopic and spectroscopic methods can be used to study nanostructures and nanomaterials. The students shall be aware of potential solutions to industrial and environmental problems that nanotechnology can offer, but also of the risks that nanotechnology can cause.
