This course provides an introduction to English and general phonological theory. It builds upon basic concepts introduced at earlier levels. A range of structural principles and phenomena regarding sound systems of human languages are explored. Among the topics covered are distinctive features; phonological rules, rule orderings and interactions; syllabic theory; autosegmental theory; and metrics, including stress and feet.
Behörighet
Bachelor of Arts degree with at least 90 ECTS credits or the equivalent in a subject area relevant to the course. Swedish upper secondary school course English B/English 6 or the equivalent.
