This course aims at giving a deeper knowledge in microbial genetics and physiology. A main subject in the course is a supervised project where the genetics of prokaryotes is studied. Analysis of the structure of the genome, gene expression, protein pattern and cellular physiology will be studied. The theoretical part of the course consists of lectures, literature studies, seminars and group discussions.

Behörighet

Passed basic courses in biology comprising 60 credits in the subject areas of cell biology, molecular genetics, evolution, botanical and zoological physiology, ecology and biodiversity and systematics and completion of Chemistry, 30 credits or equivalent courses. English proficiency is required to the level of English 6/English level 2 from Swedish Upper Secondary School, or be certified by an internationally recognized test, for example TOEFL, IELTS. In addition a completed depth course of 15 credits in Microbiology, Molecular Biology, Genetics or equivalent is required.
