How are sex and gender understood within dominant gender theoretical orientations? How does sex/gender interact with other dimensions of power in the present? What is identity politics, and is gender a matter of identity or practice? How can gender research identify what distinguishes "masculinity" or "femininity", and how do these ideas affect our bodies? How can gender studies contribute to discussions about nature, science and the environment? The Master’s Programme in Gender Studies deals with these and many other questions. The programme is interdisciplinary and allows you to design your studies in line with your interests and career aspirations. A degree in gender studies at an advanced level is meritorious for work in many authorities and organisations in the public and private sectors, as well as in journalism and cultural work. Previous graduates work with gender and diversity issues in many parts of the job market. Some have also moved on to PhD studies. The language of instruction is English.

Behörighet

_Academic requirements_ A Bachelor's degree, equivalent to a Swedish Kandidatexamen, from an internationally recognised university. Also required is 60 credits in gender studies. _Language requirements_ Proficiency in English equivalent to the Swedish upper secondary course English 6. This requirement can be met either by achieving the required score on an internationally recognised test, or by previous upper secondary or university studies in some countries.
