The Master's Programme in Physics offers seven specialisations. Its flexible structure allows you to tailor your degree by combining courses to suit your interests—whether you want to broaden your expertise or specialise in a specific area. The tutors are active researchers and the courses are linked to the frontline of physics research. The specialisations offered are: - Astronomy and Space Physics - Physics for Sustainable Energy and Complex Systems - Geophysics - Nuclear and Particle Physics - Mathematical Physics - Meteorology and Climate Physics - Theoretical Physics – Quantum Fields and String Theory The specialisation Theoretical Physics: Quantum Fields and Strings offers an in-depth study of the most advanced theories in physics. You will explore quantum field theory, gauge theories, supersymmetry, and string theory. The aim is to understand the mathematical frameworks describing nature at its most fundamental level—from particle physics to cosmology. This track is ideal for those seeking a research-intensive, theory-driven education. During the first three semesters, you choose from a wide range of advanced physics courses, allowing you to focus on a particular field. You may also take courses in related disciplines to shape a customised academic profile. The programme concludes with a degree project, where you conduct individual research project in collaboration with a research group at the university, in industry, or at a governmental agency. The language of instruction is English.

Behörighet

*Academic requirements* A Bachelor's degree, equivalent to a Swedish Kandidatexamen, from an internationally recognised university. Also required is 75 credits in physics. *Language requirements* Proficiency in English equivalent to the Swedish upper secondary course English 6. This requirement can be met either by achieving the required score on an internationally recognised test, or by previous upper secondary or university studies in some countries.
