The course Nordic Literature offers a broad introduction to literary genres from the Nordic language areas and allows you to explore them from a linguistic perspective. Throughout the course, you will explore a selection of texts from different periods and genres, including novels, short stories, poetry, and drama. Working with these texts gives you the opportunity to examine how linguistic choices shape narratives, characters, and atmosphere, and how literary expression reflects cultural and societal contexts in the Nordic region. You also gain tools for analysing style, narrative technique, and linguistic patterns, and you develop your ability to discuss and interpret literature with an analytical and linguistically informed approach.
