Kursen behandlar historisk utveckling i samhälls- och byggnadsplanering med avseende på arkitekturstilar, planarbete, bostads- och rumsutformning. Vidare ger kursen en introduktion till byggprocessen, Plan- och bygglagen och Boverkets byggregler. Kursen innehåller även flera praktiska moment där studenten får tillämpa teorierna om bostads- och rumsutformning i en inlämningsuppgift där skisser och beskrivningar tas fram för en byggnad.
