Kursen består av två moduler, och omfattar teknik och teori inom ljudproduktion för livesammanhang, både live för scen och live för broadcast- och strömmande medier. Den första modulen, Teori och verktyg för liveljud, innehåller en orientering om liveljudteknologins grunder, både teoretiskt och genom praktisk hantering. Den andra modulen, Liveljud i praktiken, omfattar olika former av liveljud och innehåller produktion av så väl liveljud för scenframträdanden som liveproduktion för audiovisuella medier som exempelvis tv-produktion, strömmad media eller liknande. Utifrån detta problematiseras begreppet ”liveljud”.
