The course includes in-depth studies of African literary works in Portuguese. A number of representative contemporary literary works from Angola, Cape Verde, Guinea-Bissau, Moçambique and São Tomé and PrÃncipe are studied and contextualized in the specific esthetic, cultural and political discussions that have engaged the African authors. Through the theoretical texts we deepen the understanding of some central topics and themes, such as Modernism, Hybridity and Nationality.
