I kursen genomförs och presenteras en undersökning i uppsatsform. Examensarbetet skrivs under handledning och behandlar ett valt fördjupningsområde utifrån ett religionsvetenskapligt perspektiv. Vid ett avslutande seminarium granskas och diskuteras examensarbetet utifrån en medstuderandes opposition, och den studerande ska i sin tur opponera på en medstuderandes arbete.
