The goals of the course are to provide over-arching understanding and knowledge relating to computer communication, to provide knowledge relating to important concepts and frequently-encountered terminology as well as to provide an overview of existing protocols and frequently-encountered algorithms. Upon completion of the course, the student shall be able to: - use and discuss computer communication using frequently-encountered terminology within the field - report on the construction and functions of frequently-encountered protocols together with putting this information into the appropriate perspective using ISO’s OSI model - state the main characteristics of theories relating to capacity limitation which form the basis of computer communication - present and explain commonly-encountered network architectures and their areas of usage - independently be able to specify and implement simpler well defined functionality in commonly encountered protocols

Entry requirements

The courses Perspectives on Computer Science and Engineering 7.5 credits, Computer Systems Engineering II 7.5 credits and Advanced Object Oriented Programming 7.5 credits. English 6 or English level 2. Exemption of the requirement in Swedish is granted for those with foreign grades.
