Den europeiska koloniala expansionen har haft stor betydelse för dagens ekonomiska världsordning. Världskrigen formade återstoden av 1900-talet. Utan dem inget Sovjetunionen, ingen Hitler, inget kallt krig. Sverige/Norden industrialiserades och demokratiserades, vilket medförde bättre livsvillkor för folkflertalet. Kursen ger en översikt över imperialism, världskrig och det moderna samhällets framväxt nationellt såväl som internationellt och utifrån olika perspektiv.
