Have you ever wondered how and why languages change? Have you noticed any ongoing changes in English today and wondered why they are happening? In this course, we will answer some of those questions. You will learn the fundamentals of English language history, with special emphasis on how and why the language has changed over time, and on current trends in Present-day English.

Entry requirements

ENGA32 English Linguistics I: Concepts and Theories (7.5 ECTS credits) and ENGB62 English Linguistics II: Language Acquisition and Language Learning (7.5 ECTS credits), or 60 ECTS credits completed in the main field of study, or equivalent
