Students study, interpret and perform repertoires from different epochs in Western classical music on their main instrument. The course includes thoughtful discussions and practical applications of repertoire, style, musical analysis and interpretation, as well as accounts of different methods for rehearsing and performing, plus instruction and application of technically advanced exercises and sight-reading of complex music notations. Students play solo and chamber music repertoire for advanced technical and instrumental skills. Parts of the repertoire are performed in in-house concerts. Students also give accounts of methods and learning processes in rehearsing and performing music and critically reflect on different approaches to performing music. Instruction is in the form of individual tutorials, seminars, and masterclasses.
KOGV00 Main instrument I, Western classical music (15 credits), KOGV02 Ensemble I, Western classical music (7.5 credits) and KOGV21 Musical knowledge I, Western classical music (7.5 credits). Registered in KOGV03 Main instrument II, Western classical music (15 credits), KOGV04 Ensemble II, Western classical music (7.5 credits) and KOGV22 Musical knowledge II, Western classical music (7.5 credits). An equivalence assessment can be made.
