## About the programme As a biomedicine professional, you will analyse and solve medical problems using the latest knowledge in chemistry and molecular biology. During the programme, you will gain broad knowledge of the biology and pathology of the human body, along with an understanding of the molecular mechanisms underlying major global diseases such as cancer, cardiovascular disease, infections and neurological disorders. You will take courses in general natural sciences alongside more medically orientated subjects. You will receive training in laboratory practice and scientific methods, while being introduced to both basic and translational research. In your final semester, you will carry out a degree project, allowing you to explore an area of your choice within biomedicine. You will complete your project at an academic institution or a pharmaceutical company, either in Sweden or abroad. ### Learning environment The programme is run in an active research environment, closely linked to cutting-edge biomedical research at Karolinska Institutet. Teaching takes place across several departments at Karolinska Institutet. #### Studies abroad As biomedicine is an internationally collaborative field, you are encouraged to study a part of the programme at one of our partner universities abroad.
