<p><i><strong>Understanding and Exploration </strong></i></p><p><i>This course takes you into the fascinating world of advanced genetics, where you will explore key molecular genetic concepts and their applications in human health. Along the way, you’ll connect theoretical principles with historical insights and cutting-edge experimental discoveries, ultimately gaining a deeper understanding of how these advances translate into modern medical diagnostics and therapies.</i></p><p><i><strong>Practical Skills and Applications </strong></i></p><p><i>A central part of the course is developing your practical skills and abilities. You will learn to identify genetic predispositions, design genetic experiments such as mutation-screening assays, and analyze data to reveal underlying biological pathways. Laboratory sessions will strengthen your technical skills and your ability to present and interpret data effectively.</i></p><p><i><strong>An Ethical Perspective </strong></i></p><p><i>We will also scrutinize the ethical aspects of applying genetics in medicine. A bachelor's degree equivalent to a Swedish Kandidatexamen with a major in one of the following or equivalent main areas: -Medical Biology -Biomedicine, Biology -Medicine -Biomedical laboratory science or 180 ECTS credits passed with 90 ECTS credits in one of the following or equivalent main areas: -Medical Biology -Biomedicine -Biology -Medicine -Biomedical laboratory science. Approved courses in genetics and/or molecular genetics or equivalent courses of at least 6 ECTS credits. English corresponding to the level of English in Swedish upper secondary education (Engelska 6 or Engelska nivå 2). Exemption from Swedish.
