<p>Many of the UN’s sustainability goals relate to the environment and climate. This course gives you an understanding of how these goals are structured and how they can be achieved. A key focus is anaerobic digestion – a process that transforms organic waste into biogas and fertiliser. Through laboratory work and theoretical analysis, you will explore the connections between ecological, economic, and social aspects of sustainable development. </p><h2>Explore solutions for a sustainable future</h2><p>The course examines strategies for tackling global environmental problems by integrating different scientific perspectives. You will learn to identify synergies and avoid conflicts between sustainability goals. A central part of the course involves laboratory work, where you will investigate how anaerobic digestion can purify organic waste from pollutants and generate valuable resources. </p><h2>For those who want to solve sustainability challenges</h2><p>This course is designed for those interested in global sustainability challenges and technological solutions to environmental problems. It is suitable for students and professionals in environmental science, engineering, or social sciences – no specific background is required. </p><h2>An interactive online course</h2><p>The course is delivered online and includes lectures, seminars, workshops, and group work. We use a flipped classroom model, where you watch pre-recorded lectures before participating in interactive discussions. Online laboratory sessions provide hands-on insight into technological solutions for sustainable development. The course is conducted in English.</p>
General entry requirements for undergraduate studies and English corresponding to the level of English in Swedish upper secondary education (Engelska 6 or Engelska nivå 2). Exemption from Swedish.
