Kursen ger en orientering om arkeologin och den arkeologiska forskningens historia samt en introduktion till arkeologins teoretiska och metodiska grunder. I kursen behandlas kultur, religion och samhälle i skandinavisk förhistoria samt arkeologins roll i samhället. Exkursioner i sydöstra Sverige och en flerdags-exkursion till Skåne ingår i kursen.
