The course provides a central knowledge of advanced electrodynamics. Focus is on the use of advanced mathematical physics tools to solve complex electrodynamics problems relevant for several fields in physics. Content: Maxwell’s equations, conservation laws and electromagnetic potentials. Wave propagation in media. Simple radiating systems of moving charges. Selected advanced topics, such as relativistic formulation, radiation by moving charges, radiation damping, quantum optics.
Entry requirements
Physics 90 credits, mathematics 45 credits or equivalent.
