This course is designed to familiarize students with issues in, research on, and approaches to developing tourist destinations for sustainability. To this end, the destination serves as the concept for sustainability considerations from a managerial, community, and policy perspective. Upon completing the course, students are able to explain the historic development of scholarship in destination marketing and management with its implications for current research efforts, and to critically evaluate tourism development efforts for their sustainability from a flow-based perspective. This course consists of lectures, seminars, workshops as well as individual and group assignments.
Specific entry requirements: at least 15 credits Tourism Studies at the second-cycle and English 6, or the equivalent.
