The course introduces key issues and trends in feminist gender theory and how these are reflected in contemporary fiction from different parts of the francophone world. Contemporary novels in French are discussed and analyzed by using various feminist perspectives in modernism, postmodernism, psychoanalysis, or postcolonial and decolonial theories. We read works by Simone de Beauvoir, Annie Ernaux and Assia Djebar, among others.
French 1–90 credits including a degree project in the subject of French literary studies of at least 15 credits.
