We are living in a world where data has been identified as a critical, important, and valuable resource. In this context, analysts and data scientists have to be supported to perceive, understand and share patterns or interrelations in large and complex data sets. The visual analysis of data is a key technology to attack this so-called big data challenge. This course on information visualization focuses on the use of visualization techniques to help people understand and analyze abstract data, such as tabular or multidimensional information sources. It covers basics in perception, interaction, and visual representations.

Entry requirements

90 credits in Computer Science (including a degree project at Bachelor level). English B or the equivalent.
