This course provides an introduction to modern applied economics focusing on evaluating public policy that only requires basic background in economics and statistics. These issues are illustrated by going through in class, using examples from actual research and policy debate. The course complements Managing Big Data for Economic Policy Analysis.

Entry requirements

Economics 15 credits and Statistics 15 credits (or course credits in time series analysis and regression analysis), or the equivalent. English 6, or the equivalent.
