Today, we have more different media types than ever before to choose between, and we can combine text, images, sound, in many different ways. Yet how do media influence what we communicate? This course provides an introduction to intermediality, as a kind media literacy that enables you to analyse and understand all kind of relationships between and within media. Based on a couple of theoretical approaches, we discuss media relations within and between text image and sound in literature, comics, music, film and art. Please note that this course does not have any on-campus meetings for the summer semester, but during the autumn semester it is ordinary on-campus teaching.
