It is good for you to solve differential equations! Already Newton knew that. The main focus of this course is to study systems of ordinary differential equations (ODEs). Many classical second order one-dimensional ODEs can be written in this form. This approach not only gives a systematic way to solve ODEs, but also helps to clarify qualitative properties. Important applications are given in various fields such as mechanics, electro-science, population dynamics, and meteorology. Both linear systems and non-linear systems are studied, in particular two-dimensional systems.

Entry requirements

A course package containing 60 credtis mathematics. This package must contain 1MA465/1MA906 Multivariable Calculus and Vector Calculus, 7.5 credits and 1MA907 Linear Algebra Advanced Course, 5 credits or equivalent.
