Inledningsvis ges en introduktion till nutida teoribildningar inom vetenskapsteori och deras historiska utveckling. Olika vetenskapliga skolor, metodologiska tillvägagångssätt samt förhållandet mellan naturvetenskap och samhällsvetenskap presenteras, diskuteras och problematiseras.
