<p>In this advanced course, you will explore 16th-century vocal polyphony by studying the music of Pierluigi da Palestrina. Through analysis and practical exercises, you will learn to compose in the same style. </p><p>The course is aimed at those who want to develop their knowledge of vocal counterpoint with a focus on 16th century music. Most of the course is devoted to Pierluigi de Palestrina’s compositional technique. Through analyses, writing exercises and practical composition tasks, you will learn to understand and apply Palestrina's way of building music. </p><p>Teaching takes place in groups, and the course is examined continuously and at a final seminar. To be eligible for this course, you must have completed undergraduate studies in music theory. </p>

Entry requirements

Genomförda högskolestudier i ämnet musik om minst 90 hp, som ska inkludera avslutad grundutbildning i satslära (MUUA17 eller MKAB20) eller motsvarande kurs från annan högskola, samt godkända inlämningsarbeten.
