Båstad Masterclass - Strings (2026)

<p>This course is aimed at those who are currently studying or have previously studied a string instrument at a university of music and wish to further develop their musical performance within chamber music. </p><p>During the course, you will take part in teaching sessions and seminars and be involved in the Båstad Chamber Music Festival 2026. Please note that this year the course requires the submission of an entrance audition. </p><p>The course takes place from Sunday 21 through Thursday 25 June 2026, with arrival on Saturday 20 June. The string course is held in conjunction with the Båstad Chamber Music Festival 2026. </p><p>The course is aimed at string players who wish to develop their chamber music skills as well as their instrumental playing in terms of technique, practice methodology, and interpretation. Teaching includes daily individual lessons, seminars, and chamber music coaching. Participants will also have access to concerts during the Båstad Chamber Music Festival, as well as time for individual practice. The course concludes with a public concert. Sheet music for the chamber works will be distributed a few weeks in advance for individual preparation prior to the festival week. </p><p>The course requires participants to stay on site during the festival. Accommodation and meals are available for an additional fee. Alternatively, participants may arrange their own accommodation and are responsible for transportation to and from the festival area. </p>

Entry requirements

General and specific entry requirements: is studying or has studied at a music college or equivalent, at least 7.5 credits in instrumental studies for their respective instrument and passed the entrance examination Selection: Places are allocated in order of ranking based on the assessment of the entrance examination, and according to the desired distribution per instrument group.
