<p>Are you curious about the world's languages and how they are interconnected? Do you want to understand why some languages resemble each other while others are completely different? Then this course is perfect for you!</p><p>This course provides an exciting overview of some of the world's most important language types and language families, exemplified with data from a wide variety of languages. You will learn about the structural features of languages and where they are spoken. We discuss why languages are similar or different in terms of morphology, grammar, and sound systems. Additionally, we address why the linguistic diversity in the world is rapidly decreasing, for example through language death.<br/></p>
