<p>The dissertation is the final part of your first year at the master level. You will draw on all the knowledge and skills you have acquired during your programme to carry out an in-depth analysis of a subject area and research question of your own choosing.</p><p>The first year Master’s dissertation, also referred to as the first year master thesis, gives you the opportunity to specialise in a chosen area of economics that particularly interests you. Drawing on your own knowledge and previous academic studies in the field, you will carry out an independent analysis of an economic research question. The content of your dissertation and the structure of the work will be determined by the area and question you choose to explore.</p><p>Throughout the dissertation process, you will receive guidance and support from a supervisor with expertise in your chosen field. The supervisor is also an important resource in the initial stage, when selecting your subject area and research question.</p><p>The Master’s dissertation is written jointly by two students.</p>
Students who are admitted to the Master Programme in Economics and have at least 30 ECTS-credits in economics at the advanced level are qualified for this course. For other students, at least 90 ECTS-credits in economics are needed for admission till this course. These credits must include 30 ECTS-credits from the introductory course, a course in intermediate microeconomics (e.g. NEKG21), a course in intermediate econometrics or quantitative methods (e.g., NEKG31), a bachelor essay (e.g. NEKH01), and at least 30 ECTS-credits from the advanced level, or equivalent courses.
