<p>Discover how maps and spatial data can reveal patterns in society. Learn to turn geographic information into insights about people, places, and social change using modern GIS tools. </p><p>This practically oriented course offers a clear and hands-on introduction to Geographical Information Systems (GIS) for social sciences. You will gain a solid foundation in key GIS concepts and learn how geographic data can be collected, managed, analysed, and visualised to study social and spatial phenomena. </p><p>The course shows how GIS helps us understand social, economic, and spatial phenomena and changes over time. It also highlights ethical issues and critical viewpoints around mapping and data use. Throughout the course you will also explore key conceptual debates and developments in GIS. </p><p>All teaching is conducted in English and takes place at the Department of Human Geography, in the historic city of Lund. </p>

Entry requirements

General requirements and studies equivalent to Swedish Upper Secondary School course Social Studies 1b or 1a1+1a2/Social Studies level 1b or level 1a2
