<p>Deepen your understanding of how cities and regions develop. In the advanced course, you will learn to analyse economic, social and geographical processes - and work practically with methods such as GIS, field studies and your own project.</p><p>In this advanced course, you will build on the knowledge you gained in the basic course in human geography and delve deeper into how economic, social and geographical processes shape societies. You will learn to understand how regions develop, why cities change and how different groups are affected by structures such as the labour market, residential segregation and international migration. </p><p>You will get in-depth perspectives on regional growth, gentrification, segregation, innovation, welfare and living conditions. You will also gain tools for analysing social planning, regional development and urban change processes on a scientific basis. </p><p>The course provides an introduction to both quantitative and qualitative methods and a clear in-depth study of Geographic Information Systems (GIS), from theory to practical application. You will then use this knowledge in your own analyses and in a final project. </p><p>The course is suitable for those who want to understand social development in depth and be able to analyse cities, regions and social processes using both theory and practice. </p><p><br/></p>

Entry requirements

General eligibility and at least 22,5 ECTS credits from a course corresponding to SGEA20 Human Geography: Introduction, 30 credits.
