<p><strong>COURSE CONTENT</strong></p> <p>The course aims to provide the students with knowledge and understanding of modern Italian sociolinguistics and dialectology as well as of basic variations found in the Italian language. It examines geographic and social explanations of language variation. Basic concepts such as language variation, standard varieties of a language, multilingualism and code switching, language contact, language preservation and language politics in the Italian speaking world are studied. In addition, various methods of research used within the fields of sociolinguistics and dialectology are discussed.</p> <p>Ā </p> <p><strong>DISTANCE COURSE</strong></p> <p>This is a distance learning course using the learning platform Canvas, with online lectures over Zoom.
