Embedded Electronics Engineering integrates digital and analogue circuit design into a single, interactive system. The focus is on silicon-based semiconductor technology like CMOS, where billions of devices fit on a single chip.

Integrated circuits (ICs) are a key technology that powers digital transformation, autonomous vehicles, cloud computing, IoT, 5G/6G, and supercomputers. This unique programme prepares you for a career in Embedded Electronics Engineering.

Amid a global chip shortage and EU efforts to boost microelectronics, your skills will be highly sought after in sectors like telecom, automotive, healthcare, and defense. The programme focuses on applied studies in digital, analogue, RF, and mixed-signal IC design. A major strength is its broad range of elective courses, linking circuit design with system-level applications. You can specialize in areas like programming, AI, signal processing, or nano devices, aligning your studies with your career goals.

The interdisciplinary approach builds both solid theoretical knowledge and strong practical skills. You will gain hands-on experience in modern labs, using industrial tools and working on real projects. With digital and analogue tracks that interact closely, the structure is flexible and supports a broad understanding of embedded electronics, preparing you to solve complex design challenges.

The programme is offered by LTH, one of Scandinavia’s top engineering schools. In 2024, its Electrical and Electronic Engineering was ranked 38th globally (Shanghai ranking), reflecting its academic excellence and international reputation.

A Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, computer science or equivalent. Completed courses in mathematics (calculus, differential equation, transform theory and linear algebra) of at least 30 credits/ECTS, as well as completed courses in basic circuit theory, electronics, analogue electronics and digital electronics corresponding to at least 30 credits/ECTS in total. The applicant must have basic programming skills (at least one course) and knowledge of electronic description languages, such as VHDL/Verilog. English 6.
Each offering has its own dates and conditions. Closed offerings are retained as history and do not mean that a new application is open.
