<p>Discover how human speech works across the globe. This course explores the sounds of the world’s languages - how they’re made, how they vary and what they reveal about human communication.</p><p>This course introduces you to the wide range of speech sounds used in languages around the world. You’ll learn about the building blocks of spoken language called phonemes - and how they differ across regions and languages.</p><p>You’ll explore topics like:<br/>• how speech sounds are produced<br/>• what sounds are common or rare across languages<br/>• how accents and dialects shape the way people speak.</p><p>You’ll also get hands-on experience with unusual or “exotic” sounds and learn how to describe them using real-world examples.<br/></p>
90 ECTS credits, of which at least 60 credits in a language subject, linguistics (General Linguistics or Phonetics), or the equivalent
