<p>Are you curious about how political systems work and why they differ? This course gives you the tools to compare democracies and other regimes, analyse political behaviour, and understand how decisions are made across countries.</p><p>The purpose of the course is to deepen your knowledge and skills in some of the main areas of research in comparative politics. Of particular importance are theories, methods, and empirical results on political decision-making in different political systems. The course provides an overview of current debates in the field. It gives you the tools to understand and to navigate the increasingly complex political settings we observe in Western democracies and beyond. You will gain insight into current research debates and learn how to apply analytical tools to complex political settings. </p><p>This is an elective course in the Master’s Programme in Political Science and the Master’s Programme in Welfare Policies and Management, but can also be taken as a stand-alone course. </p><p> </p>
For admission to the course, students are required to have passed studies in political science or peace and conflict studies of 90 credits, including a bachelor thesis in one of these disciplines, and an additional 60 credits of completed courses.
