<p>Documents are a key source in social science research. In this course, you will deepen your understanding of how documents can be analysed and used as empirical material, and how different methodological approaches influence both interpretation and results. </p><p>The course provides a broad introduction to document-based research in the social sciences. You will work with both qualitative and quantitative analytical methods and learn how to select, examine and integrate documents into a broader research design. The course provides you with a solid methodological foundation for further studies or in projects where document-based material constitutes an important source of knowledge. </p>

Entry requirements

To be eligible for the course, the student must have at least 150 higher education credits, including a graded thesis for the degree of Bachelor in the Social Sciences, Humanities, or equivalent. A good command of the English language, both spoken and written, equivalent to English 6/B (advanced) proficiency in the Swedish secondary system, is required. Equivalent assessments will be made in accordance with national guidelines.
