<p>Discover Ukrainian through engaging, accessible texts that open a window into the country’s culture, history, and society. Build your reading confidence, expand your vocabulary, and learn how language choices shape meaning—while developing your skills step by step.</p><p>This course is for you who have general eligibility plus Ukrainian: Beginner Courses I and II (15 + 15 credits), or Ukrainian 3 from upper secondary school, or equivalent knowledge. </p><p>The course focuses on practical reading comprehension, translation, and discussions that deepen your understanding of how the Ukrainian language works. Throughout, you will read and translate adapted modern Ukrainian texts into English, while developing a clearer understanding of how vocabulary choices, grammar, and style influence tone, meaning, and style. The selected texts have been chosen to give you both linguistic proficiency and insight into Ukrainian history, culture, and society. </p><p>You will learn to recognize basic stylistic variations, understand and explain key grammatical structures, and build an intermediate vocabulary—especially words connected to cultural, historical, and social topics. You will also use your growing language skills in discussions and written reflections that relate to Ukrainian cultural and social contexts, allowing you to apply what you learn in meaningful ways. Step by step, you will strengthen your ability to understand, interpret, and communicate in Ukrainian while gaining a richer sense of the cultural world behind the language.</p>

Entry requirements

General eligibility and knowledge corresponding to Ukrainian: Beginners' Course I (UKRB01) and II (UKRB02), 30 credits.
