<p>Why do cities exist and why do some grow faster than others? This course in Urban Economics answers these and many more questions - about how cities function, develop and are influenced by regulations and economic decisions.</p><p>Urban Economics explores the interaction between cities and economic forces. The course introduces how location and place affect economic models and gives you tools to understand urban development.</p><p>You will find answers to questions such as: Why do cities exist? Why do some grow faster than others? How is urban growth managed and regulated?</p><p>The course also examines household and business decisions about where to live and operate, as well as how land prices are determined. In addition, it addresses key urban phenomena such as housing markets, segregation, crime, congestion and emissions.</p><p>The course can be taken as a stand-alone option and is ideal for students interested in urban planning, economics and sustainable city development.</p>
At least 90 hp in passed courses which must include an introductory course in Economics (micro). Swedish 3/Swedish Level 3.
